Beautiful scanned images of mail art with no flash and no cooky angles.

So I've been busy and have had problems with my computer which have now been figured out (a bit to my embarrassment). So I'm back!

Here are some semi-recent letters I sent out:

To Superhero for a mail art call

And now this tired and hungry girl is going to eat some pizza!

NO JEDI

My boyfriend is so clever.

Clay took a trip by train to the midwest recently and on the way out had a bit of a stop in Albany.  He sent me this postcard.

The text reads:

YOU ARE INVITED
to the inauguration of our
beloved Emperor Palpatine!
WHERE: Imperial Palace, Coruscant
DRESS: Formal or Traditional Sith
All sacrificial offerings accepted!

NO JEDI

And doesn't the Empire Plaza in Albany look like exactly like a Sith palace would? :-D

Good Mail Day!

I've had a bunch of really good mail days recently.  These four came all on one day!!

Two from my parents, one from Kim in the Netherlands, and one from Misty the Pen Thief.

Very cool envelope and stamps from Kim.  I suppose the writing is Dutch.  It's so fun to have penpals from different countries!

And here is the letter from Misty.  I love how the dog on the stamp continues the dog on the envelope.

Some more lovely postmarks from my parents.

Here is what I sent back to Kim:

I was really proud of how I matched the stamps to the envelope theme.  Ratatouille and groceries!

And sent to Misty:

These maps are awesome.  They are free because they have a bunch of advertisements on them and they show the locations of lots of businesses.  This one is from Annapolis, and I recently picked up a couple from Newport, Rhode Island.  Keep your eyes out!

Mystery Gift!

Just look at this amazing thing!

It arrived in the mail in a suspicious package that said something about paypal on it, and my birthday is coming up in about 2 months, so I had to check with Clay and my parents to see if I should open it.  Imagine my surprise when they were all as puzzled as I! Clay opened it himself just in case he had actually ordered it and then forgot about it, which is totally something he would do.  But he hadn't, so the mystery remains.

Isn't it beautiful? I think it is cast iron.

To my amazing anonymous gift giver, THANK YOU!! I love it!!!!!

And it works beautifully. At this point I've used it about half a dozen times.

Thank you so much!!!!!

Workspace

June 2nd of last year:

Today:

You can see that some things have moved around but it's mostly the same, that is to say, messy.

And I have less excuse now because I have the black and white drawers and the drawer/shelf combo on the left, which I did not have when we first moved in.

This is my space for mail art, letters, and school work : class planning, grading, and writing papers.  I would love to have a bigger area... oh my would I love that.

Well, we will be moving at the end of the summer, so maybe in our new house or apartment I'll be able to have some more room.

Things I like about my workspace:
My decorations on the wall, the bird mobile, my ribbon of postcards
My mail organizer on the left
More storage space than I've ever had, although I still want more!

Things I don't like about my workspace:
The plastic bin where I put my school stuff
That my laptop is basically like a desktop computer, because of all it's problems it is a big pain to move.  That makes my workspace seem a lot smaller.
